Geocache Description:

Weather Underground PWS MEKCO3

Elk creek weather station is the second highest station in Baker county. It can get cold up here above 6500'! The cache is placed at a safe distance from the Baker City watershed. This area has restrictions due to the fact that Baker's water is pure without need of filtration. Vehicular traffic within the watershed is prohibited. The weather station is only a 1/4 mile walk from the cache site (coords listed below).

Finding the weather station is entirely optional, but what I would like is for you to mention what the weather was like when you found the cache. Was it cold? Hot? What temperature was it? You can click the link above and scroll down to check the history for the time you were there. When I placed the cache on May 27, 2008 it was 48 degrees around 2:00pm. At the same time Baker recorded a balmy 64.

Let me know what you think of the view of Baker from up here. This is also one of the best viewpoints of Bald mountain, Beaver ridge, and Little Bald mountain. You'll be looking for a lock-n-lock painted black. High clearance is probably the smart ride to this one. I personally chose to hike from my other cache nearby.
