Geocache Description:

Due to the previous cache site being muggled, the Pembroke Ferry Travel Bug Hotel is now positioned within a quieter area of Pembroke Dock - A Military Cemetery - an more ideal place for TB's to call in for some R&R on their way to or from Ireland via the Pembroke to Rosslare Ferry.

The cache site is just off the main route (about half a mile) into the Pembroke Dock to Rosslare Ferry Terminal. The site serves as only one reminder of the Town's history, and an aspect of Pembroke Dock most travelers don't consider on their journey through to Ireland.

It is a quiet spot, secreted away in the middle of a small modern housing estate. It is the only Military Cemetery in Wales and is the last resting place of servicemen and servicemen’s relatives, who were killed or who died while serving in what was an important garrison town.

It is true to say that nearly every ‘Regiment of Foot’ in the British Isles did at some time serve in ‘P.D.’ as the Town became affectionately known to servicemen.

The headstones reflect the disasters and nationalities, and tell a tragic story of the children who died from many of the illnesses that today are protected by vaccination and cured by modern medicines.

Both the terrain and difficulty of this find are both simple, making it an ideal place to call into quickly to drop off or pick up TB's destined for the Emerald Isle or the UK. Please read the Spoiler below if you are in a real hurry and want to get moving on your journey sooner.

Although you may take a travel bug if you haven't got one to replace, please do not leave the Hotel empty.
