Geocache Description:

Nice Playground

Torpedo Torment is located in this popular playground park. You will need the stealth of a submarine captain to find it on a busy day, so imagine yourself at the CON as you silently cruise to the starting coordinates.

You are submerged at periscope depth. Your target is the cache. You raise your periscope and scan the horizon for the target, but there is no cache in sight.

"Sonar! Con! No target in sight!! Go Active, one ping!"

Your Sonar man responds immediately with one sharp ping on the active sonar. A foolish move in time of war....especially if the target is submerged....but YOU are desperate to find the cache. (Whack the metal pole on the play equipment to make a metalic ping.)

"Con! Sonar! We have a new contact."
The plot computer is lighting up like crazy as the sonar man begins plotting a solution to the target.

The Sonar operator, spins all the rollers on the RIGHT column of the plot computer and writes down all the numbers on each roller from smallest to greatest.

The Sonar operator muses, "HA! This reminds me of playing Battleship." He yells into the intercom.

Con! Sonar!! Bearing Mark! (A2+C1+C3+B1)xB2xA2 (Magnetic)

Con! Sonar!! Range Mark! (A1xC2xA2)+(C1xA2) We have a solution!

You quickly spin your periscope around to that bearing and stare into the mist. No cache in sight. Trusting the skill of your Sonar expert and plot team, you decide to chance a snap shot and hope for the best. You shout into the intercom, "Flood tubes one and two." "Open the outer doors." "Spread shots 2 Degrees"

"Snap shot tubes one and two!"

Your Sub shudders as the fish leave the tubes and head for the target. "Cut wires and close outer doors."

"Con! Sonar!! Torpedoes running hot, straight and normal. 30 seconds to impact!"

30 long seconds pass...the crew is all holding their breath as sweat beads on every brow. 40 seconds! 50 seconds!!

"Con! Sonar!! Torpedoes failed to acquire."

In utter frustration...you decide to surface and go look for the cache yourself. You break out your imaginary rubber raft and head out in the same bearing as your torpedoes. Don't leave the park.

Fail to find the cache and you are SUNK --- score one for Chirpz Team.

This cache is equipped with a waterproof log , you can sign it when it is wet if you use a pencil or waterproof pen.

Look for a micro cache near what is left of the original container. The original has been muggled 3 times now so I'll let it lie for a while.
