Geocache Description:

One of twenty-three caches hidden in various towns across Massachusetts. Find them all to derive the coordinates for the "Green Monster - Final".

Each cache in the Green Monster series contains one or two "monster numbers" prefixed with "N" or "W". To determine the coordinates for the "Green Monster - Final" cache, add up all of the "N" numbers and "W" numbers.

For example:
Cache A - N +20° 10.000
Cache B - N +20° 02.000
Cache C - N +02° 00.300
Final lat   - N 42° 12.300

Please keep a record of the monster numbers you find in the Green Monster caches.

Consult the Green Monster bookmark list for all of the caches in this series.

One Week Headstart
In the interest of fairness, the owners of the Green Monster geocaches will wait one week after the caches are initially published to begin seeking them.

If you are interested in participating in the Green Monster series by hiding a new cache in your hometown (or anywhere in MA.), please join us! Email the owner of the "Green Monster - Final" cache for details. (Click on the owner's name at the top of the "Green Monster - Final" cache page, and select the "Send Message" or email address link in the owner's profile.)

This chapter of the "Green Monster" series is a traditional ammo-can cache in the town-owned Sprague Conservation Land in Harvard, Mass. Parking is on West Bare Hill Road, at the coordinates posted below.

There is a brown wooden sign at the parking area / trailhead (see picture below). The trail initially passes through open fields currently leased for crops; please respect the local farmer when passing through it. Where the trail passes from field to woods, there is a granite bench from which there is a nice view of Mount Wachusett.

The trail then meanders through the woods, marked with yellow paint blazes on trees. About midway to the cache the trail forks; you can take either one (see map below; the left fork is shorter). Near the cache site is another nice view, this one of Bare Hill Pond.

The trip from car to cache is between half and three-quarters of a mile, depending on which route you take. No night-caching, please; Harvard conservation areas are open from dawn to dusk.

The cache is initially stocked with green trade items. Feel free to stick with this theme or to trade whatever you wish.
