Little micro at Traian Bridge in Arad on one bank of Mures river.
The Traian bridge in Arad is one of 80 (?) steel bridges in Romania. It is located on the national road DN 69, crossing the Mures river and connecting the suburb Aradul Nou to the centre of city.
Built between 1910 and 1913, it is a historical monument of engineering science and technical art for this period. In spite of multiple damages, intense traffic and several repairs, such as:
- Elimination of the damages after WW I
- Adding tram rails
- Reconstruction of one pile and repairs after WW II
- Consolidation works in the 50s and 70s
- Regularization works of the river bed
this 185 m long bridge is, after almost 100 years, still in use.
The cache is located on the Ardeal side of Mures a few metres away from the bridge.
The coord’s above lead you – hopefully – to a black 35 mm film canister. It contains only a log book, so please don’t forget a pen(cil).
Parking is possible along the street without charge.
Please watch out for muggles all the time.
Because we visit Romania only few times a year, the cache will be maintained in the meantime by Alghebus, a good (cacher-)friend of us, who lives in the region.
