The Kitsap County Thomas Guide Challenge

Inspired by "http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=1e2b6c21-c5fd-4ee6-aaae-52883adb021c"> W7WT , One of the original cachers of Kitsap County!

PLEASE! DO NOT GO AFTER THE KCC FINAL WITHOUT HAVING YOUR BOOKMARKS CONFIRMED BY ME! YOUR "FOUND IT" LOG WILL BE DELETED! Thanks! John.

Reminder: Although "Fledermaus" has some of the best hides in the county, he has chosen NOT to participate in the Kitsap County Challenge. Fledermaus hides are NOT eligible caches for the KCC.

This Challenge is based on the Kitsap County Thomas Guide-First Edition.

Congrats to jholly on FTF!! 3/31/08

Thanks to TTUMS for the map image

W7WT and I want this to be as easy, and as achievable as possible, and we hope everyone that participates, has fun!

Here is an outline on how this challenge will work.

1) Create a Public Bookmark List labeled Kitsap County Challenge, with cache name, GC number, date and map #. Once you have completed the challenge, you can go look for the final. Your bookmark list will be reviewed and any find logs from cachers who have not completed the requirements will be deleted.

If in the event that you are not a premium member and would like to participate...no problem, just post a note on here of your participation using the following method ( I will work with you on an individual basis), and then: Compile a list of your found caches (Name of the cache and GC#), the map # that you want those caches to go towards, and the date of your logged finds. Once that is complete, post a note on this listing, that you have a completed list, and then email that list to me for verification.

2) The only cache type not eligible will be an Event Cache. All Traditional, Multi, Mystery, Virtual, Earthcache, or Letterbox caches will be allowed, no matter the size. The coordinates posted on the top of the listing for all type caches, will be the ones used for determining if that particular cache falls within a certain map or not, not the physical location of the container (In the instance of a Multi or Mystery).

3) A date restriction will be in effect on this challenge. All finds must be on or after the date of the publication of this challenge..2/18/08. Hides will not count to complete a map, and if you have all active caches found within a particular map, you will have to wait until another one is published, to be able to clear that map..

4) The individual maps shown on the image above, are actually broken down into two pages within the Thomas Guide, a left page and a right page. With there being a slight skew in the latitude and longitude in the guide, the coordinates used to verify that a cache is in a particular map, will be the ones used in the guide, on whichever page (left or right) that the cache coordinates says that the cache is on.

5) All qualifying caches must reside within Kitsap County lines.

Reminder: Any find logs posted to this cache page will be checked against the guidelines already stipulated. Any found logs that don't meet the requirements WILL be deleted.

UPDATE EFFECTIVE 2/22/08: After receiving word from Fledermaus, that he will disable any cache that he discovers as being used to complete this challenge, We are opting to make any of his hides, ineligible towards completing any of the maps.

NOTE! We want everyone to be able to complete this challenge. We are aware that a few "maps" have difficult (terrain) hides. If you have a disability and are unable to complete a map or the final, please email me. I can help! If you ARE capable of finding the usual hides and are just trying to "take the easy way", it's not going to work! Kiyomi and I are pros at working with abilities and disabilities! Happy hunting! - John

Congratulations to "gotracking89" and "jrtrecking"! What a way too finish 2009. Well done, guys! Not the greatest day for finishing the KCC, but when has a little cold and rain ever stopped us from caching? LOL! Happy New Year and happy caching! John & Kiyomi

Well what can I say... It was pouring down rain we had two little kids running and jumping in mud puddles on the way. I don't think we would have had it any other way to finish out this series ( I know it took us a while...but with two foster kids at the ages of 1 and 2 geocaching had to be put on the back burner). You should be seeing us on the trail more often now! TFTH
