Vassault Assault Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Blue Heron: Well, turns out the reports of this cache’s demise weren’t exaggerated after all. Yes, I’m “extremely surprised” because it’s well and truly gone. Gone permanently. I mentioned that there would be “noticeable evidence” if it was missing. That’s because the cache was a fake drain and removing it would have left a sizeable hole in the ground. However, Met Parks did something, not sure quite what, all the way around the tennis courts. They may have replaced the sod, but it doesn’t quite look like that. Anyway, they took my fake drain away and I’m not going to replace it. Thanks to Tanz and deepwade for filing the DNF logs that alerted me to the problem. RIP Vassault Assault, 2004-2011.

Geocache Description:

This cache is intended to be a bit challenging, but the logs indicate that the coordinates are accurate enough that if you trust your GPS, you won't have any trouble.  Follow the needle to the given coordinates and start looking. The cache contains only the log. Bring your own pen/pencil.

This is a totally exposed and VERY HIGH TRAFFIC AREA! Super Stealth Mode all the way! There is no way to predict when muggles will be present. I've seen it busy on weekdays and deserted on weekends and vice-versa!

PLEASE NOTE: The container IS completely waterproof. After the last episode of wet log paper, I took it home, dried it out, replaced the log and left it completely  submerged for TWO DAYS!  Not Drop One of water got in! So if water is getting in, it's because (a) folks are letting the log get wet while signing it, then sealing it up (if water can't get IN, it can't get OUT either!) or (b) the lid isn't being cinched down tight.  (There's an O-ring on the lid that needs to be seated to seal the container.)

Please be careful to keep the paper dry and the lid tight! Thanks!
