Geocache Description:

An easy multi with a very short walk. Very small container not much room for large swaps.

Tintern Station was opened in November 1876 and was the largest railway complex on the line. This was mainly due to the anticipation that with the famous abbey, the station would become a major destination for tourists to the Wye Valley, and the station was the destination of many "Abbey Excursions" during the railway's lifetime.
After the line closed in 1964 Tintern Station was derelict for many years but has now been preserved as a tourist attraction. From April until October the station is now a cafe and there are carriages containing an exhibition and gift shop plus there is a miniature railway that runs on Bank Holiday weekends.
The signal box is now a craft shop, the water tank still remains in situ and various boundary markers and signals still remain.

Park in Brockweir at N 51° 42.437 W 002° 40.024 or there is parking at the Tintern Station for a small fee. At the time of placing this cache it was 50p for 3 hours. This is plenty of time to find this cache including a walk of 0.25 of a mile to find “Ferryman’s Fury” – GC10XKB and refreshments at the Tintern Station during the summer months. Bring a picnic or have a barbeque here and enjoy the riverside walk.
The number 69 bus that runs between Chepstow and Monmouth stops at the Station.

At the co-ordinates for the listing there is an information board. From this board gain the following information:-

Offa ruled his Midland kingdom of Mercia from ABC – DEF

Eleanor of Provence’s dates of birth and death are GHIJ – KLMN
