Wiouwash Walk is located along the southern end of the Wiouwash Trail in Winnebago County north of County Road GG. Please leave the cache hidden at the 2.0 difficulty so it's not visible, especially from the trail.
This hide involves a short hike on the trail through a state natural areas prairie to the cache location. The cache is in the woods flanking the trail north of the prairie terrain. Do not leave the trail until you enter the woods north of the prairie area.
Access can be made from the parking area along County Road GG. Opting for a shorter walk would require roadside parking with narrow shoulders if approaching from the north.
Like many of our other caches along the Wiouwash, this would be another great night caching choice for enjoying the open view of the starry sky away from city lights en route to the hide from the designated parking area.
The initial cache was a camo'd matchstick container with a roll log and pencil. On May 18, 2008, the cache was upgraded to a larger sized small container with some new start-up swag. While at the cache location, please tread carefully on any wildflowers or other native plants that are now more evident at a spring cache check, and be watchful for other users of the trail who can approach quickly and quietly.
Congratulations to JimandLinda for the FTF on October 27!
Congrats to Tupperqueen for find #1200 at the Walk on May 5, 2012!
