Geocache Description:

Wanna learn something about Czech Xmas? Wanna watch floating lights and set your own on sail? Come and see! Inspired by GC5ED94 - Advent Geonutshells, traditional Czech Xmas megaevent.

Meeting place Kailua canal by Buzz's, meeting time after sunset at 7 pm to enjoy the lights show.

Join us to celebrate approaching Xmas the Czech way! We will meet near Kailua canal by Buzz's. Each geocacher should bring a small boat, usually from a nut shell - I strongly suggest a cocoa shell - come on, it's Hawaii :-) (in general anything buoyant - anything but plastic, be eco-friendly...) with a candle light. We'll let the boats float in the canal and watch the ultimate show all together. I'll tell you more about what can be predicted from the movement of the boats and what is behind this Czech Xmas tradition.

In brief, on Christmas Eve people make small boats, usually from walnut shells. They place small candles inside, light them and let the boats float on water in a large pot or sink. The fun is in predicting future from how far the boats float, how they stick together (or not), how long the flame lasts and so on... I will also bring some pictures and share stories about other Czech Xmas traditions and customs.

Maybe I will bring some Czech cookies and stuff, don't forget to bring some Xmas food and drinks and share it with fellow geocachers :-) Xmas is time of peace and generosity... Act like GeoOhana :-)

We'll meet, speak about various Xmas traditions, create the light show on the canal, exchange Xmas food and drinks and hopefully have a peaceful Xmas-like time.

Everyone is welcome. In fact, I'd love to listen to Xmas traditions from Hawaii or elsewhere!

Looking forward to meet you all and share the Xmas traditions!
