WELCOME TO THE CENTRAL HARDWOODS SCENIC HIKE-BIKE TRAIL EAST. You will be looking for a clear lock-n-lock type container. It contains a log book and pencil.
This is the eastern extension of Land Between the Lakes' Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail (originally LBL's Greenway Trail) from the Golden Pond Visitor Center. This portion of the trail is compacted gravel which makes a smooth walking/biking path. Because the path also follows the contours of the terrain, its not as easy as the paved portion. But its not as hard as the other dirt trails throughout LBL.
From the GPVC, the trail continues for about 4 miles from the Golden Pond visitor center to reconnect with the paved portion of the CHS Trail. To the west, the trail meanders through upland mixed hardwood forest on its way to Fenton campground, over 4.0 miles away. If you are game, you can take the North-South trail for an extended day-hike up to a multi-day backpacking trip.
Parking is available at the Golden Pond Visitor Center, the Golden Pond Town Trailhead Parking lot and the Meredith Trailhead. If you leave east from the backyard of the GOLDEN POND VISITOR CENTER, your journey will take you east on the trail about 3.0 miles. If you leave east from the backyard of the GOLDEN POND TOWN, your journey will take you west on the trail about 1.4 miles. If you leave east from the MEREDITH TH, your journey will take you east on the trail about 1.3 miles.
