This awe inspiring park is located on the shores of the Mekong river some 27 km outside of Vientiane, a short drive past the Friendship Bridge. Contrary to its name, it is not a temple but rather a large park filled with concrete statues, many of which are truly gigantic. One, a statue of a reclining Buddha is more than 50 m long!
A very popular place for both Lao and foreigners, especially on weekends. It was started in the 1950's when a monk built several huge statues depicting Buddhist and Hindu figures and characters in an attempt to unite the two faiths.
There is a nice restaurant as well as a gift shop on site and everyone is welcome to picnic and relax on the wide open grassy areas. A must see is the beehive shaped building depicting the 7 levels from hell to heaven. The stairs are steep inside and you should have a flashlight.

Entry fee: 5000 kips

Two boxes are available for the cache (thanks to Golem Team), each with its own logbook, hint and spoiler. You only need to find one to log the cache : double luck!

Ce parc surprenant est situé sur la rive du Mékong, à environ 27 km de Vientiane, à deux pas du Pont de l'Amitié. Contrairement à ce que son nom pourrait laisser croire, il ne s'agit pas d'un temple, mais plutôt d'un grand parc rempli de statues en béton, dont beaucoup sont gigantesques. L'une d'entre elles, une statue de Bouddha couché, est longue de plus de 50m !
Un endroit très populaire, pour les laotiens comme pour les visiteurs étrangers, notamment les week-ends. Cela a débuté dans les années 1950 lorsqu'un moine construisit plusieurs immenses statues représentant des symboles et des personnages bouddhiques et hindouistes, dans le but d'unifier ces deux croyances.
On y trouve aussi un joli restaurant , ainsi qu'un magasin de souvenirs. Tout le monde est bienvenu pour pique-niquer et pour se relaxer sur les pelouses. A voir absolument : une construction rappelant une ruche et représentant les 7 niveaux qui séparent le ciel et l'enfer. Les escaliers y sont abruptes et vous devriez vous munir d'une lampe.
