Gammo's "Old golf course"
Deze tocht van zo'n 4 kilometer, voert je door een prachtig stuk natuur van het Zuidhollands Landschap. Het grootste deel van de route gaat over het terrein van wat eens een prachtige golfbaan was. De cache ligt overigens zo'n honderd meter buiten het terrein van het Zuidhollands Landschap.

Je bent nu bij het begin van de 'berkenroute'. Het is het eenvoudigst om gewoon de route te volgen om de cache te vinden. Volg gewoon de auberginekleurige paaltjes, en let op de richting waarin ze wijzen, speciaal tussen de parkeerplaats en WP2. Maar als je ervan af wilt wijken .. Geen probleem, zolang je maar netjes op de paden blijft.
This walk of about 4 kilometers, leads you through a beautiful piece of nature in the Landscape of South Holland. The major part of the route is on, what used to be, a beautiful golf course. The cache can be found approx. 100 meters outside the terrain of the Landscape of South Holland.

You are now at the start of a route, known as the birch-route. To find the cache, the easiest way is to stay on this route. Please just follow the aubergine coloured posts (and watch the direction they are pointing especially between the parking-lot and WP2. But if you want to try an alternative way, please feel free as long as you stay on the path.

Rechts ziet u een kaartje uit 1930 waarop de golfbaan is ingetekend. (Linksboven). Voorzover bekend is de golfbaan rond 1924 geopend. Wanneer en waarom de golfbaan precies is gesloten is nog niet bij mij bekend maar wordt uitgezocht.
Oostvoorne bezat vóór 1926 een 6 holes golfbaan. Vanaf 1926 werd deze golfbaan uitgebreid tot 18 holes. (60 Hectare, 5 kilometer). De architect van de golfbaan was Harry Colt. Harry Shapland Colt (1869 - 1951) was een Brits advocaat en architect van golfbanen, en mede-oprichter van de firma Colt, Alison & Morisson, die toen bestond uit hemzelf en de golfbaanarchitecten C.H. (Charles Hugh) Alison en John S.F. Morrison.
A little bit of history before you start
On the right you see a map from 1930 on which the golf course is mentioned (left-topcorner). As far as we know, the golf course was opened around 1924. When and why it was closed I do not know yet, but it is being investigated
Before 1926, Oostvoorne had a 6 holes golfcourse. In 1926 the golfcourse was extended to 18 holes (60 acres, 5 kilometer). The architect of the golfcourse was Harry Colt. Harry Shaplant Colt (1869 - 1951) was a Britisch lawyer and architect of golfcourses and co-founder of the Colt, Alison & Morisson company that consisted of himself and the golfcourse architects C.H. (Charles Hugh) Alison and John S.F. Morrison.
