The Clatskanie Fire Tower is located in a private forest management area that is open to the public. It opens at 9:00AM and closes at 5:00PM during the Fall/Winter months and at 7:00PM Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The coordinates listed above will take you to the tower. Climbing the tower will afford you a fabulous view of the northern Willamette Valley as well as Mount Hood & Mount St. Helens.
To find the cache, you must count the number of wooden steps (ignore landings) on the way down (or on the way up, if so inclined...). Once you know the number of steps, you need to ADD that number (latitude AND longitude) to the following coordinates (WGS84):
N 45 17.747
W 122 51.437
EXAMPLE: N45 17.747 + 200 steps equals N45 17.947. Get it?
If you don't lose count, and your addition is correct, you will soon find the cache!
