Fortet ble bygd av den tyske okkupasjonsmakten I 1941. Formålet var
å sikre innseilingen til Arendal gjennom Tromøysund. Innseilingen
via Galtesund ble sikret fra Sanvigen fort befestninger. Fortet var
bestykket med 4 stk. 105 anti-skipskanoner og antiluftskyts

militær aktivitet her og området er et populært turområde. Området

The fortress was built by the German occupants in 1941. The
purpose was to secure the sailing to Arendal through Tromøysund The
other access to Arendal, Galtesund, was covered by the fortress of
