Monument overlooking Swaledale
This is a monument erected in 1606 by Robert Willance to give thanks for his miraculous preservation, when he rode his horse over the edge whilst hunting in bad weather. He fell 200ft but survived.
There are good views of lower Swaledale (apart from the caravan site below!)
This is part of a favourite circular walk from Richmond.
Be careful in foggy weather!
