Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the Fort Fairfield Bridge over the Aroostook River.

This is a small cache containing only a log and pencil. It is on the bridge that goes across the Aroostook River. As you view the community of Fort Fairfield from the bridge, you will see the historic blockhouse which is the start of a 19 site historical tour of the community. You can also see the community flood dike designed to keep downtown Fort Fairfield dry during the spring flood. Before the dike the down town section flooded almost every year. There is a trail that goes along the dike giving you a view of how the town is kept dry with a special lock in the middle. The cache is on the main ATV trail and snow trail in the winter. It is at an intersection so beware of people watching.
