Located in Towsley Canyon Park. There are two
ways to get there. You can park for free near the outside gate or the first lot
inside the gate. Beyond that there is a $5 a day fee to park. If you plan on doing the 6
mile Wiley canyon loop it only adds about 1/2 mile to your hike to park outside
the gate. If you go directly to the cache paying will get you about a mile
closer so it's up to you if you want to pay to park.
The Wiley trailhead starts on the left 1/4
mile inside the park. There are many caches on the Wiley Canyon trail. there are
more at the top of the hill and down the far side. The trail will bring you to
the back of Towsley Canyon park where a couple more caches are hidden. It is an
easier walk from there back to the parking area.
To go directly to the cache, follow the paved
road and the trail beyond about a mile and you will go through a narrow canyon.
on the other side of the canyon you will cross the stream and follow the barely
visible road cut in the hillside. There is one cache before this one and another
a little further up the trail.
The cache is a 1.5 inch round by 8" long
container. If you haven't been up here before make sure you bring lot's of water
and good shoes since the full trip of gathering caches is about 6 miles and
about a 1300' gain in elevation.
Unfortunately
it is now a pay to park area. It is $5 a day to park. Make sure you pay or you
might get a $60 ticket.
HINT: If you park outside the gate it's free, it just adds about 1/2 mile to
your hike.
