Aghla Beg - The Second Cache on the Highland Glover Walk by Netdrum

Aghla Beg

Aghla Beg (Irish: Eachla Beag) is a mountain in County Donegal, Ireland. Of its two summits, one has a height of 564m, and the other 603m. It is the third most northern and fifth highest of the mountain chain, called the Seven Sisters by locals (Muckish, Crocknalaragagh, Aghla Beg, Ardloughnabrackbaddy, Aghla More, Mackoght (also known as 'little Errigal') and Errigal. The Seven Sisters are part of the Derryveagh Mountains.

The Glover Highland Walk begins at the Miners path at Muckish taking in the Seven Sisters and  finishes at the car park at Errigal. This cache can be completed as a individual cache or done as part of a series of caches that now cover the route of the Glover Highland Walk. These include: Muckish Mountain(GC1VWD2), Aghla Beg(GC1W14A), Ardloughnabrackbaddy(GC1W2FY), Altan Towers (GVOPT) and Errigal (CGVOPV)


The Cache

To reach this cache you will have to first hike across Crocknalaragagh mountain at 471m then follow the waypoints provided. This is a physically demanding hike and proper equipment, map reading and compass skills is recommended. OS discovery series maps 1 and 2 cover the area. The views on a clear day are stunning and will remain with you long after you leave the place. The Cache is small tablock lunch box with log book pencil sharpener and some items for trade, its hidden North side of the summit well away from the cairn.
