Geocache Description:

Cache is located at posted coordinates but logging requirements must be meet prior to claiming a find.

Old Lyme is a community of some 8000 permanent residents and an additional several thousand seasonal visitors who occupy a shoreline complex of summer residences. Located on the east bank of the mouth of the Connecticut River where it meets Long Island Sound, the town is marked by independence, volunteerism, and a long-standing commitment to the arts. Fine examples of Colonial and Federal architecture line main streets and winding country roads. Old Lyme was set off from Saybrook, which is on the west bank of the river mouth, on February 13, 1665. Old Lyme occupies about 27 square miles of shoreline, tidal marsh, inland wetlands and forested hills. Old Lyme is a town full of great places and a lot of history. To honor this great town and encourage people to explore it I have placed this cache. Here is how it works. Your goal is to find a cache which begins with each letter in Old Lyme. This means you must find 7 different caches, one beginning with O, another with L, another with D, and so forth. Yes, 2 different "L" caches are required. Please note that Event caches may not be used to complete the requirements of this cache. All cache find to qualify for this cache must be found either on or after the publication of this cache (May 8, 2008). In addition, of the 7 caches found, you must include at least one of each of the following: a puzzle/mystery cache a traditional cache a multi-cache a letterbox hybrid or Wherigo cache a earth cache or a virtual After you have found all of these caches, you then must complete one additional task. You must go to your favorite spot in Old Lyme and take a picture of yourself holding a sign that says "I can spell Old Lyme". Please note that taking the picture in front of the cache does not qualify. you must actually go somewhere else in Old Lyme. Post your picture, a set of coordinates from where the picture was taken and a list of the GC number, name, type of cache and find date of each cache used to spell Old Lyme in either a note or you found log. Premium members create a bookmark list if they like. I will verify that you have met the requirements once you have posted a log. You do not have to wait for me to give you permission to log a find for the cache. However, if I determine that you have not met the requirements I will delete your log.
