Along the Beaver River, near the Pepper Box Wilderness Area.
This cache is a perfect autumn hike to enjoy the famous north country foliage. It is also a great place to bring fishing poles, four-legged friends and kids with bug jars. The trail is mostly easy, but definitely has a feel of adventure as you cross two foot bridges and end up on scenic rocks with a pretty little white water river for picnicing. For those people lucky enough to have an entire day free, bring a topo map and plan on hiking or mountain biking further up the trails into the Pepper Box area.
Directions: Head into the Adirondacks on the Number 4 Road toward the Stillwater Reservoir. Turn off on the Moshier Road (there is a Beaver River Canoe Route sign) and park at the Moshier Trailhead Parking. Head towards Moshier's Launch and then follow the blue DEC trail markers for the Pepper Box Wilderness, which will take you across the foot bridges for both Sunday Creek and Beaver River. Once across the second bridge, you are on your own - if you can't find a trail toward the water on your way in to the cache, you should find one on the way out.
Cache is a standard ammo box, starting out with Mr. Crock the travel bug, a drill bit set, new soap from the Adirondack museum, a backgammon game, Lisa Frank bead kit, "Instant Smoke", "Toilet Tunes" (slimy goop for the kids) and similar trade items. Please trade at equal value to keep this cache from turning into a junk box. Thanks!
