Cache at historic location along the Old Ridge Route. Micro, log
only, bring your own writing utensil.
This is part of a series of caches along the Old Ridge Route meant
to introduce you to the beauty and the history of the area. This
turnout provides you with a shady rest stop and some history on the
Sandberg Inn, which was a resort established around 1920. An
informational plaque at the turnout gives you a look at the Western
Alpine style inn during its heyday. Now all that is left are stone
walls and a few pieces of foundation.
This is a popular spot for folks to stop and sometimes camp, so
be mindful of muggles when searching for and retrieving the cache.
Please rehide by covering with natural camo.
This has also proven to be a popular area for rattlesnakes in
the summer of 2007. As with all caches in the great outdoors watch
for indigenous critters, and use caution when climbing or reaching
into places you can't easily see.
