Geocache Description:

To find this cache in the Onepoto Domain you will need to explore and find the 5 objects pictured. Next record the co-ordinates and use values derived from them to calculate the position of the cache. Update 21st February 2010: Following demolition of some buildings the object photos and the divisor in the maths puzzle have been updated

The position listed is just the carpark and is otherwise not used. Wander round and identify the objects in the photos. They are all within about 200 meters of the car park waypoint.

The search area (Broadly speaking)

The actual cache is a little further away.

Take the kids, for while the maths may be beyond them, they will find matching the photos fun and there is a very good play area. All the references are on formed paths or grassy areas.

Note that the pictures may show the objects orientated in other than a normal position. i.e. rotated.

Find and then mark a waypoint at each of the 5 objects in the photos. Make a list of the waypoint co-ordinates Take the latitude figures first And add up just the decimal digits
A 36 4?.XXX
B 36 4?.XXX
C 36 4?.XXX
D 36 4?.XXX
E 36 4?.XXX
............. YYYY
Divide the sum of the decimal digits YYYY by 8350 and use the decimal digits ZZZ from the answer in the latitude co-ordinate as here:
Cache latitude 36 48.ZZZ

Now do the same with the longitude:
Add up the decimal digits
A 174 4?.XXX
B 174 4?.XXX
C 174 4?.XXX
D 174 4?.XXX
E 174 4?.XXX
..............YYYY
This time divide YYYY by 84000 and use the decimal digits YYY from the answer in the longitude co-ordinate as here:
Cache latitude 174 45.YYY

While subject to some variability these co-ordinates should put you close to a single, medium size, low tree stump in a grassed area. From this tree the cache is 15 metres due east(true)

Now look for a largish schizophrenic tree and there find the stash.

The cache, a cammo-painted, plastic, 400ml jar, when placed held
A packet of tap washers
A "Fashion Jewelly" teddy bear key chain.
A small Donald Duck toy.
A "Kokopu connection" fridge magnet.

Also resident: The "Kiwi Crossing" Travel Bug.

Note: There are a couple of other caches quite handy to this one so you could take a picnic and make a day of it. Note 8th August 2004 I have uped the terrain rating by .5 as it is apparent that the latter section can get rather wet in winter. Also note the gates to this park are closed to vehicles at night although pedestrian access remains available
