Golden_Spike: This one had a good run! Unfortunately it seems to have finally gone missing. As I don't make it to Potsdam much if ever anymore its time for something new in this beautiful park!

A short walk from the parking lot at Lehman Park along the Racquette River in Potsdam, NY. You will have to leave the trail, but there are multiple ways into the woods that are very easy.
This cache could be tricky and might take a little while to find. The entrance to the park itself is a small road called Akwesasne Drive. It parallels the small creek just north of the cache that can be seen on the Topozone map.
An interesting little history note: In the very early 1900s a railraod was constructed that ran from Hanawa Falls, which is just up river, to Potsdam. It served the sandstone quarries up river, which were something that Potsdam was known for. The highschool sports teams here are even called the Stoners, as in sandstone, not... well... If you look down the Racquette River in the direction of Clarkson from the trail to the cache you can see a long line of old wooden and stone supports. I believe these are where the railroad once ran, right down the river. Unfortunately, the railroad was removed around the time of World War I.
The cache itself is a racquetball container, about 5 inches high and two inches in diameter. It has a screw-on lid and should be pretty waterproof. It has a log book and various small trade items. You may have to be on the lookout for muggles, especially during nice weather!
When you spot the cache please be very careful of the hiding place and make sure to put the cache right back where you found it! You'll see what i mean.
Good luck!
