Auto Production in Kenosha Mystery Cache

letsgohiking: This one's needed maintenance for the 4th time. I would love to keep this one up, but my patience is worn thin. I've also archived the final in this series (and for the same reason). Hope you all enjoyed the local history!

Geocache Description:

Note: The coords above are NOT the final location. Please read the long description to find the cache. This is the ninth cache in my historical marker series for Kenosha County, WI (see GCPTCN). It's a micro hidden at a city park.

Welcome to a local history lesson. Please take a minute to read the marker when you visit this cache. This is Wisconsin Historical Society's Historical Marker #472--"Auto Production in Kenosha." WHS has a nice website: (visit link)

Chrysler bought AMC in 1987. Then Chryser merged with the German-based Daimler-Benz in 1998. Here's some info on the Daimler-Chrysler engine plant in Kenosha: (visit link)

American Motors Corporation's products strikes a chord with some people. My best friend from high school is a bonafide AMC nut, and is planning on rebuilding his 1974 Hornet (again). Here's a website for AMC enthusiasts: (visit link)

If you're still interested in AMC's products, check out the Rambler Legacy Gallery at the Kenosha Historical Society: (visit link)

The above coord will take you to the marker, NOT the cache. To find the cache, do some reading and math:

What year did Thomas B. Jeffery purchase the 1895 Sterling Bicycle Company? Subtract it from the minutes of the following (ignore the decimal point):

N42 37.019

What was the last year cars were produced in Kenosha? Add it to the minutes of the following (again, ignore the decimal point):

W87 48.122

If you own an AMC vehicle, when you log your find, for fun let me know what model & year.
