Have a picnic at or nearby to the car park and take a look at
the collection of trees which you wouldn't expect to find in this
forest. The nearby hostelry is well worth a visit and within a few
minutes walk of the car park. Ideal for a drink, a meal or just the
history.
We could have suggested other start points but this takes in two
very nice places. The route may require effort for small wheeled
pushchairs and the last stage, is off the main track and is too
difficult to take a pushchair but not too far from the main
path.
Now onto finding first clue : - Aim for N51'48.037 W002'32.576.
Here you can cool off, wish you'd brought some bread and read the
sign providing the name of the location. The number of letters of
the last word on the sign = A.
Go from here to N51'47.840 W002'32.17(A-3). Now it's decision
time. You're all spruced up but which way to go? That depends on
how high you are. Add the three numbers giving your height together
to get 'B'
Now go to N51'47.668 W002'32.340-B. Here you should find
yourself in a fairly central location and you're on the right
track. What you should be looking for is a change in altitude. The
difference between your previous height and your present height
will give you a 2 digit number. Add those two numbers together to
get 'C' and go straight to the cache at N51'4C.6C3 W002'32.321.
PLEASE COVER AGAIN AND HIDE CACHE FROM ALL ANGLES (it was
completely hidden originally), as some parts of the year it may
become exposed where it is hidden. There may be brambles at other
times, stick may be useful to search then. People pass by
frequently so try to be quiet and hidden as you look. It is
possible where it is!
Hope you enjoy doing our Cache, and don't have to make any
detours!
If you have a map of the area and feel like a walk, there are
other caches in the area and many attractive locations.
