Ammo Cans for Al Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

tadpole379: Doing fall maintenance on all my caches. The final was missing, and I don't have another ammo can to replace it with so I am retiring this cache. I retrieved stage one, which was still in place. Thanks to everyone who searched for this cache.

Geocache Description:

This is a two stage multi cache located at Kennedy Dells Park in New City. Both stages of the cache are ammo cans. I had a lot of signal bounce at the second stage, so please let me know if I need to adjust the coordinates. This cache was placed in honor of biga800 because I know how much he hates those magnetic trees! ;)

Both stages of the multi are located within a few feet of a trail. There is no need to bushwack. Please be sure to rehide both stages of the cache so they cannot be seen from either direction while walking by on the trail.

About Kennedy Dells Park:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Flat rolling topography. The extreme westerly portion is heavily wooded consisting of Hemlock, White Pine, Beech, Maple, Black and Red Oak, White Ash, and Black Locust. A portion of the land's forty acres is farmed by George Smith and Sons Inc. growing some of Rockland's finest Sweet Corn, and preserving the fields for future active sports development. Crum Creek bounds the Park on the westerly side along which winds a hiking trail that looks down at the stream below.

HISTORY: Owned in the early part of the century by the well-known movie producer Adolph Zukor. New City was at one time to be the Hollywood of the east. Remains of the bridge across Crum Creek to the teahouse still exist. 80 acres purchased 1969; 97 acres added 1975.

PRESENT USE: Parcourse Fitness Trail, hiking trails, off-leash dog area, horse corral, nature study, soccer, cross country skiing, picnic tables, pavilion and forestry and wildlife conservation practices. Guided tours and lectures are available by the Park Rangers.

WILDLIFE OF RECORD: White-tailed Deer, Red Fox, Raccoon, Rabbit, Squirrel, Woodchuck, Red-tailed Hawk, Barred Owl, Screech Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Crow, Thrush, Warblers, Vireo, Pigeon, Doves, Canada Geese, Woodcock, Mallard Duck.
