The trail to the parking spot leaves highway 3/95 four kilometres NE of the Cranbrook city limits at N49° 33.797 W115° 41.723. After a very short uphill drive there is ample parking available. The trailhead is to the right of the Forest Renewal BC information sign. The 1 km route to the top of Eager Hill is a well-defined zigzagging trail. Although the slope is steady it is not onerous. My 83 year-old mom was able to make the hike! Allow about an hour for the trip up and back. There are picnic tables close to the cache site and it is a wonderful spot to partake of the view and a snack.
At the top of the hill stay on the main trail, pass the site of the original fire tower at N49° 34.092 W115° 41.667 and carry on to the second picnic table at N49° 34.143 W115° 41.585.
The cache is in a green coffee can and contains:-
Pad and pencil, a waterproof match container, an Expo 86 collector’s pin, a whistle, a key clip, a wooden teddy bear cutout and a British 1960 silver sixpence. The cache site was moved and refilled with goodies due to too many people stumbling across it accidently in its original location.
