This is a medium/large canister cache which contains a log, pencil and some small swap items. This cache is very suitable for dropping TB’s. This cache is part of a 3 cache series ‘Purgavie Puzzles’ and is number 2 in the series. This cache series is located on a private farm but is located here at the request of and with permission of the farm owners; The Clark Family.
The cache is easily reached as a cache and dash and stealth is required. Whilst it is easy to reach beware and pay attention of traffic, This are can be busy at times. Children need adult supervision at all times.
We have visited Purgavie for holidays every year as a family since 1991. The truth is that after staying here by chance the first time, we fell in love with the place! We have wanted to place a cache here for a couple of years. This year we are able to do so as the Farm Owners, having heard of Geocaching, want to become involved in it.
Care must be taken on all of these caches as the busy main road, the B951 runs alongside all of them. Whilst it is enjoyable for children to be involved in these caches they must be supervised at all times. PLEASE TAKE GREAT CARE!
Purgavie Farm
David Clark's grandfather came to Purgavie Farm at the foot of Glen Isla in 1904 and the family has farmed here ever since, with potatoes and malting barley now the main crops, while cattle and sheep graze on the hill. Purgavie borders onto the Cairngorm National Park.
The farm covers 470 acres of which 206 acres are on Brankam hill. You are welcome to walk up the hill and maybe you will find the historical sites dating back to the bronze age. The farm has been established since Jacobean times when weapons were hidden in the hay stacks for the 45 rebellion.
