Geocache Description:

Cache can be found near the beginning of the road leading to the Experimental Lakes Area.It is an ammo box with the usual logbook, pencil, and swag. There is a canadianwildflower tag for the FTF or your chose of swag without trade.

At the Experimental Lakes Area (ELA) field station, a number of lakes and watersheds have been set aside for the purpose of whole-lake manipulation studies. This facility, in existence since 1968, offers scientists and biologists a unique opportunity to do experimental research in nature instead of inside the laboratory. Entire small lakes are available to test hypotheses about freshwater ecosystems. Motorized vehicles are not allowed further than 4.5 km down this road without a travel permit.

Update: July 2016- I've been meaning to update this cache description as there have been alot of changes to the ELA since 2011. For awhile it was up in the air about who would step in as the new 'stewards'. In the spring of 2014 IISD signed three agreements with the government that ensured the area would continue to be monitored.
