Sheffield's Central Park Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

A cunning nano placed in the gardens near the main central taxi rank. Be very careful when putting the cache back.

The parks official name is the City Hall Garden, but now known as Barkers Pool Gardens. It was opened on 3rd August 1937, and was yet another gift to the city by J.G.Graves, with the intention of preventing any further development so as to preserve the setting of the City Hall. It was on 2 levels. The main feature was an ornamental fountain with 16 jets of water spraying onto a stainless steel globe. It was in the centre of an octagonal paved area with flower beds and grass plots. The lower area was a pool surrounded by a flower bed and a paved area. Unusually, there was normally no access allowed for the public. Today however the gates are always unlocked and access is available at all times.
