10/25/07: After years
of dealing with low quality cachers stealing, breaking,
plundering, and misplacing my caches, I'm exhausted. I have
tried to provide quality, creative, and original caches for
over six years, costing me a good amount of time and money.
Sometimes the only reward is yet another cut n' paste log
from a numbers-obsessed cacher. Coupled with the ongoing
damage at my caches, it just ain't worth it and it's not fun.
I will continue my normal maintenance visits but I am now
archiving all my caches if they are again ruined by LQCs (or
if the cache is controversial in any way). This process may
be quick or long depending on the cachers that come here. For
the enjoyment of future cachers, please take care of this
cache just as indicated below to help preserve this hide. I
do send a BIG thanks to all the high quality cachers who have
helped support me and my caches through the years. Much
appreciated! -CoolCache

After reading the logs of my nearby Tsunami cache, I suspected that some never
made up viewing pier to enjoy the Bay view, the wildlife, and
appreciate this wetlands project. To that end and also to
improve the cache density in the wonderful Martin Luther King
Jr. Regional Shoreline park (big name!), I place "Healing View."
What you see at this location is part of the marvelous recovery
of the San Fransisco Bay wetlands. We were slow to realize
throughout the US the ecological importance of these areas. Not too
long ago people thought of them and waste areas and treated them
accordingly. And we did so to our detriment. But wise people have
reversed this process here in the Bay.
By removing fill, breaching artificial levees, and
reconstructing tidal channels, this landscape will have the
opportunity to function as it once did: acting as a filter for
contaminants to the Bay and providing home to a myriad of
creatures.
This wonderful effort was completed in 1998 and is well on its
way to re-establishing itself as a refuge to numerous native
species. Pintails, Mallards, American Widgeons, Blue Herons,
Avocets, Canadian Geese and maybe even an endangered California
Clapper Rail can now be seen plying the waters in easy sight of
this impressive viewing pier. Bring your binocs if you, like
CoolCache, enjoy watching these magnificient creatures and taking
in the sights of an area that's healing.
[If the original container is muggled, I'll upgrade the hide.
Until then, I'll let it ride!]
>>>> 6/23/05 Replaced the muggled cache today. The
first was really a temporary one until I could put in the
appropriate hide. It's there now. The views are healing but this
hide could put the hurt on you... difficulty raised to 3.5 for now.
Hey muggle: CoolCache laughs in your face with this one.
>>>> 12/20/05: By popular demand this is now a FIVE
star find!
>>>> 07/13/07: Hide totally changed due to pier burn
damage. Now it's much easier and less creative unfortunately. May
upgrade again later. New hint. Please place out of sight when
done.
Another CoolCache original. Muggle proof now.
