Kätkö on vanhan myllyn alueella Hämeenlinnassa/Cache located in the area of this old mill in Hämeenlinna

Mylly sijaitsee VT 10 läheisyydessä Matkolammesta Katumajärveen laskevan Myllyjoen varrella. Paikalla on ollut valtion omistama Vanajan kruununmylly eli Kuninkaanmylly jo 1500-luvulla.Myllyn toiminta liittyi tuolloin Hämeen linnaan ja linnan tileissä mylly mainitaan ensi kerran 1539. Myllyn aikaisempi nimitys on ollut Kuninkaanmylly,jota 1700-luvulla alettiin kutsua Kruununmyllyksi. Peruskartalla paikan nimi on Ruununmylly. 1600-luvun puolen välin paikkeilla myllyn yhteyteen rakennettiin Hämeen linnan saha.
Nykyisen kaksikerroksisen tiilisen jauhomyllyn rakennutti Katisten omistaja kauppaneuvos J.F.Lönnholtz insinööri Johan Hultin piirustusten mukaan vuonna 1867. Rakennus paloi,mutta se rakennettiin välittömästi uudelleen.Rakennuksen uudempi puoli toimi alunperin lastuvillatehtaana,joka aloitti toimintansa 1927. Myllytoiminta loppui vuonna 1954,mutta omiin tarpeisiin mylly jauhoi vielä 1960-luvulla. Vesivoiman ansiosta Katisten kartanossa oli sähköt ennen kaupunkia. Vesivoimaperinnettä jatkaa 1990 asennettu uusi vesiturbiini.

The mill is located near main road on Myllyjoki,which is flowing from Matkolampi to Katuma.Already in the 16th century Vanaja crown mill has been located in this place.The mill was owned by state and its activity was connected to Hämeenlinna castle.In the year 1539 the mill is first time mentioned in castle`s documentation.Earlier the mill was called "the Mill of the King".In the 18th century the mill was started to call as "the Crown Mill".On the basic map the mill is called as Ruununmylly.In the middle of 17th century also saw was built near the mill.
Nowadays the two-storey flour mill is located in that place.The material of the mill is brick.The mill was built by a commercial counsellor called J.F.Lönnholtz in the year 1867.He also owned an estate called Katinen.The mill was planned by Johan Hultin.The mill burnt,but it was re-built immediately.The newer side of the building was originally wood wool factory,which started to work in the year 1927.The commercial mill activity stopped in the year 1954.The mill was,anyway,working for own needs in the 1960`s.Because of the water power,Katinen estate had electricity before the whole city.The water power tradition still continues.In the 1990´s a new water turbine was installed in the mill.
