Geocache Description:

Cache clues updated on 5/2/18. the final cache location has not changed

This cache is placed with the kind permission of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. Please keeps dogs on leads at all times.

This cache has been designed so that you can see both sides of the Farlington Marshes Nature Reserve. Bring Binoculars and be prepared for the possibility of brambles, nettles and lots of mud.
There is a lot to see at Farlington Marshes which has remained more or less unchanged for centuries. Cattle graze the land and there are several large lakes for Birdwatching. 75 different species have been spotted in one day here.
There are a couple of World War 2 bunkers from when Farlington Marshes was used as a decoy site to lure German Bombers away from Portsmouth. Indeed several of the ponds on the Marshes are old bomb craters.
The terrain you will be walking varies from tarmac to uneven grassy paths so it isn't going to be suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
The co-ordinates above are for the parking. However to get to the parking you need to turn off the A27 Farlington Roundabout immediately after the westbound off-ramp and before getting onto Eastern Road. Get into the left hand lane as you come round the roundabout, slow down and look for the metal gate on the left.
The Cache co-ordinates are:
N50.50.ABC
W001.01.DEF

Go to N50.50.261 W001.01.673 where you will find somewhere to sit and look at the birds. Also you will find a sign with drawings of birds on it which you will need to study to answer the following questions.

A= The number of Bearded tits on the left hand side of the sign.
B= The first digit of the registered charity number x 2
C= The fifth digit of the registered charity number - the sixth digit
D= The number of juvenile birds on the right hand side of the sign x 3.
E= The number of "broods" that bearded tits can have in a year x 2.
F= The number of meters a year which reeds can grow by - the number of birds flying across the top of the sign.

Proceed to the cache where you will find a source of nature.

We hope you enjoy this geocache. As ever all comments appreciated. Please take a walk around the Marshes as there is a lot to see. There is an excellent walk around the coast with many opportunities for birdwatching.
