Geocache Description:

Named after the ferocious creature lurking at the edge of Rock Creek Park. This thing is just plain dangerous and could easily tear chunks of flesh from a careless passerby. There are a number of specimens of this creature located in the National Zoo, just up from the small mammal house.

Please be careful approaching the cache- it is well protected, but far enough away from the creature that even a young child can safely make the grab.

The container is a large Martha Stewart plastic box.

PLEASE MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE BOX IS WELL SEALED WHEN YOU REPLACE IT!

Park on Beach Drive west of the bridge. There is a gravel parking spot across from Ancient One (GCMC4F). If you don't start from there, you will have to cross Rock Creek to get to the cache.

The walk is a bit tricky and can be very muddy if it has rained. There are also a number of ponds and small creeks that need to be crossed or walked around. Be careful of thorn bushes and the clouds of mosquitoes in the summer.

Also please be aware that I-495 passes very close to the cache.

PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH THE BELTWAY- The fence is down in places.

Herds of deer in the area!

Please make sure that you recover the cache well because it is in such an exposed location.

Nice Geocaching sticker for the FTF!

Congratulations and thanks to CRF( the FTF!) for the help with this description.
