Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

This Multi-Cache was released to coincide with the Great Basin and Eastern Sierra Geocachers Meet & Greet II  and will take you on a brief tour of various locations in Carson City.

There are two legs of the cache that will give you latitude and longitude of the final cache location. The total time involved in working the cache should be in the area of 45 minutes to 1½ hours. It is not necessary to work the cache in any particular order, but we suggest you begin in the order listed to keep your drive times to a minimum.

Leg 1: Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

N39° 11.928 W-119° 41.250

This cache is a brief scamper from a paved road and is an AOL tin that’s the size of a CD jewel case. It’s been painted in grey and rust colors for camouflage purposes. The longitude is written inside the tin. The cache location, just south of the fabled Pony Express Trail, will give you a view of the northeastern Carson Valley

Leg 2: Signs of the Times

N39° 08.993 W-119° 45.866

This cache is literally a drive up and is a flat magnetic strip that has the latitude coordinates written on it. The cache location is a downtown business neighborhood that once featured Carson's oldest radio station and Monty's employer while he lived here - KPTL.

Final Leg: Oh, no! Not Another Rock and a Hard Place?

This cache is contained in a .30 caliber ammo can and is located just a brief, yet uphill walk from a paved road. The cache location will give you a great view of the south end of Carson City and the Greystone Hotel facility.

Upon placement, the cache contained the following items:
Dr. of Rockology GeoToken #001
UFO video tape, new
Petrified wood slice, nonflammable
Key fob/bottle opener
Antique coat hooks, 2
Antique turquoise, one pair
Polished onyx stones, 3
El Capitan lapel pin
Toy viewer, plastic
Hang Onto St. Christopher Travel Bug , now enclosed in a safe container, including directions for the requested usage of the TB.

Cache you later, Monty and Teri

A couple of years ago I found Stage #1 but then it ended there. I don't know why I didn't go after the rest. Of course by now, I easily lost the first set of coordinates I had, so it was back to square one. Now, I went back to Stage #1 and re-wrote those coordinates. A few nights ago, I stopped by and grabbed #2. Today after lunch, I went to grab the final. I figured I better hurry up and get the final before I lost all my numbers and had to start over again. After such a cold morning, it turned out to be a nice afternoon with temps in the 50's and no wind. I made the quick hike to the cache and signed the log at 3pm. It was nice to find one of the older multi's in northern Nevada. I didn't take anything and left TB See-The-USA-In-Your-Chevrolet.

Thanks for the cache,

Bernsports(#722)

Okay, in stead of this one taking 45 to 90 minutes, it took us about 5 months. I guess we never got around to doing the final leg because we passed right by it every night on our way home! Fun to do this one, even over the course of 3 long spread out days. Thanks so much for getting us around Carson.
