What: It’s time for another great geocaching event (event
cache), where we all can gather together, grill and chill, taste
the goodies we’ve brought with us, exchange Travel Bugs and
Geocoins, chat about geocaching and everything that is related to
it. The bravest of us can set up tents and will enjoy the campfire
until the morning, when the star shine is already faded away.
Where: If the pilgrims already knew how to navigate by
observing the stars, so should geocachers nowadays be able to
follow their path. The zero coordinates take you to a place, where
you start observing the stars. Near there - by a memorial statue –
you’ll find more specific instructions what to observe and which
stars tell you the right story. In addition you’ll get to know how
to find stars the best.
When: Appropriate time for observing the stars starts at
May 10th 2008 at 21:00 PM. This is the time when the
instructions will be made available by some magical forces. From
that time, there’s also a log book waiting for the “finders” of
this event cache. That, of course, if you’re capable of following
the path that stars lead you. If you are wise enough and equipped
with eagle eyes, you should reach the log book after an hour of
star observation. Starting from midnight, the star shine will start
to fade away, so all the geocachers with astronomical interests
should finish their observations by that time.
How: In this case the most useful instrument for observing
the stars is a car. Any kind of them will do, also the ones with
low bottoms. After all, star observation is a civilized activity,
so we won’t force anyone to go offroading in a swamp. But you
should know that you’ll also meet not only asphalt roads and nice
lighted places, because the stars might show themselves in the dark
or in thick woods. The car should have a well working odometer (to
measure the distances you’ve left behind), which has been over
times one of the most important tools to locate the stars. You
could use GPS’s odometer/counter for that, but in deep forest you
shouldn’t count on it too much.

aja saavad kokku geopeiturud ja grillivad koos vorsti, maitsevad
kaasa toodud head - paremat, vahetavad Trävelbuge ja Geomünte,
ajavad juttu geopeitusest ja kõigest sellega seonduvast. Julgemad
panevad üles ka telgid ja jäävad hommikuni nautima lõkkevalgust,
peale seda, kui tähtedesära vaatamisest tüdinetud.
Kus: Nagu juba vanad rändrahvad oskasid pelgalt tähtede
järgi navigeerida, oskavad seda kindlasti ka tänased geopeiturid.
Aarde algkoordinaat viib sind kohta, kus alustad tähtede
vaatlemist. Selle koha lähedalt, mälestussamba juurest, leiad
täpsemad juhised, mida just vaja vaadelda on ja millised tähed

Millal: Tähevaatluseks sobiv aeg algab 10.mai õhtul kell
21:00. Just siis ilmuvad nagu nõiaväel vastavad juhendid
eelmainitud paika. Samast hetkest ootab sündmuseaarde "leidjaid"
logiraamat, seda siis seal, kuhu tähed sind juhatavad. Tublimad
peaksid arvestama umbes tunnike kestva tähevaatlusega, et
logiraamatu asukoht teada saada.
Alates südaööst hakkab tähdede sära tuhmuma, selleks ajaks peaks
kõik astronoomiahuvilised oma vaatluseid hakkama lõpetama.
Kuidas: Sobivaimaks abivahendiks tähevaatluse juures on
seekord auto. Sobib igasugune, ka madalapõhjaline. Tähevaatlus on
siiski tsiviliseeritud värk, sohu offroadima kedagi ei aeta. Küll
aga peaks arvestama, et pelgalt asfaldil ja valgustatud paikades ei
pruugi tähed nii hästi paista, kui pimedas ja paksu metsa vahel.
Autol peaks olema töökorras ja täpne odomeeter, mis on läbi aegade
olnud üks tähtsamaid tähtede tuvastamise vahendeid. Hädapärast ajab
asja ära ka GPSis olev, kuid selle peale ei maksaks metsateedel
väga kindel olla.
