Thank you to Can't find Diddly for letting me take over this cache in this great park. The cache is now a bison tube located close to the original. It is located in the Town of Poughkeepsie at Peach Hill Park, a 157 acre site at the highest elevation in town. The cache is a couple hundred feet from the overlook.
Peach Hill Park, surprisingly, was formerly an apple orchard. The area is beautiful, especially now that all the apple tree's are flowering. This cache site was picked in order to bring you to this lovely area. Be very careful, there are signs that say pesticides were used and to avoid contact with the dirt, so if you have any children be mindful of this. It is a tick area as well, and there is Poison Ivy all over the place, just be extra careful (see picture if you aren't sure what to look for). Also keep an eye out near GZ. The trail is marked the entire way by either long sticks of wood with signs on them (or on the ground next to them) and red tape tied into the trees as well. The overlook is about 200' away from the cache so please make sure you go out there and check it out! There is also picnic tables and some new benches up here that would be perfect for a break. You will see from the parking area that the cache isn't that far away, but if you follow the trail, as I recommend (the views along the way are very pretty) you will see that it isn't a quick grab, and the trail is free of poison ivy, another incentive to take the stroll. I hope that anyone who comes out here will see why I chose this area. The apple trees are flowering, there are so many birds, I saw 2 turkeys, 2 large rabbits, & frogs, plus it smells wonderful! I can't guarantee it will be the same in winter but its Spring now and it is so nice up here! The gate for the parking locks at Dusk, so plan accordingly! Enjoy!
