Geocache Description:

No fences. Can drive near in good weather on dirt road off of paved road. Cache is .14 mile from pavement.

The secret of hidden treasure is how this creek got its name. Legend says that $15,000 in gold coin was "cached" somewhere in this dry and hot area. I will be going to the library to research this further. There is a nearby cache with the creek's name, but I wanted everyone to know how the name came about.

To gain access to the area you must exit at "Mojave" from Hwy 58. Turn north, travel to "Cache Creek Rd" and head west. This road was the Randsburg Cutoff (California City) before the new Hwy 58 was completed. Once on this road you should have no trouble with locating the dirt road that will lead you very close. Becareful not to drive off the dirt road as you can get stuck in sand!

This cache is in a 20 oz. poly bottle and originally contained:

Logbook w/ pen & pencil
Keyring Pliers
Small pocket knife
Carabiner
New England Patriots pin

In summer prepare for the heat. Hat, water, etc. Also remember the creatures that aren't people friendly!
