Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates given represent an area of just over one and a half square miles (4.3 square km), which contains a cluster of tiny Buckinghamshire hamlets that provide the clues for this cache. The cache itself may or may not be within the designated area.

The hamlets of Forty Green, Holly Green, Pitch Green, Skittle Green and The Ford lie to the north west of the B4009 between Longwick and Chinnor, as shown on the map. As you can see, the area is crisscrossed by a network of lanes and footpaths.

Each hamlet holds the answer to one part of the puzzle. In what order you collect them, and how you make your way from one to the next is entirely up to you, but it will probably help to print out this page and the map and take them with you.

The following clues are listed in no particular order, and do not necessarily have to be gathered in this order. Use your own initiative and the map to shorten or extend your tour as you please.

At Forty Green, locate the main entrance to Forty Green Farmhouse (not the office lets). The telegraph pole opposite has three numbers on small white discs nailed to the post. Add these numbers together to give you A

At Holly Green, locate Dove Cottage and count the number of concrete bollards chained together on the verge outside. This number is represented by B

At Pitch Green, locate the entrance to Pitch Green Farm. Next to it is a footpath sign pointing down a track opposite. There is also a white post bearing the name of a property down this track. How many times does the letter C appear in the name? This will give you C

Go to Skittle Green, opposite the start of Holly Green Lane. How many wells? This number is represented by D

At The Ford, there is a disused railway crossing. The Phoenix Trail runs from Thame to Princes Risborough along the line of the old railway. How far is it to Thame? How far is it to Princes Risborough? Add these two distances together, and then ignore any resulting fraction. This number will give you E

Nearby is a pillar box. Note the last collection time Monday to Friday, which consists of three digits. Add the second and third digits together to give you F. The first digit on its own is G. The second digit multiplied by 2 is H

You should now have eight different numbers, represented by the letters A – H

Your final destination is N 51 GA.ECB W 00 BD.FHH

The cache is a ½ litre plastic screw top beaker, and originally contained: the log book with pen and pencil, highlighter, cable ties, plastic eraser, whistle, mini screwdriver

Please take care to replace exactly as found.
