PT: Ermida de Santa Catarina
Esta ermida, levantada junto ao solar que foi do conde de Santa Catarina, pertence hoje ao Estado, por enquanto este solar serve de residencia ao Governo Militar dos Açores.
Ignora se qual a data da sua contrução. No entanto, sabe se que no seu lugar deveria ter existido outrora uma outra ermida de Santa Catarina; conforme consta do condicilo de 1528 ao testamento do Cavaleiro Pedro Jorge, já então viuvo de sua mulher Ana Gonçalves, explica-nos Mendonça Dias que este Pedro Jorge era filho de Jorge Velho e de mulher Africa Anes, que vindo de Santa Maria com seus pais, casou nesta ilha de S.Miguel com Ana Gonçalves, filha de Gonçalves Anes e de Catarina Afonso de quem teve descendençia.
Foram varios os admnistadores do vinculo instituido e foi um deles que construi a actual ermida em 51 alqueires de terra lavradia, existentes naquela zona.
O Doutor Ernesto do Canto, referindo-se a esta ermida escreve o seguinte: “ Esta capela ( de Santa Catarina) é edificada nas casas de Luiz Francisco Borges Rebelo, tem de rendimento 2$000 reis de patrimonio que lhe deixou Manuel Rebelo Borges. Há poucos anos, já na posse do Estado, esta ermida foi de novo batizada e aberta ao culto, com cerimonia a que presidiu o Ouvidor Padre José Gomes. Era governador Militar dos Açores o falecido Brigadeiro Antonio Germano Serrao dos Reis JR.

This Chapel, raised by the sun which was the Count of Santa Catarina, now belongs to the state, for now this solar serves as residence to the Military Government of the Azores.
It is not known what date of its construction. However, you know that in place should have existed previously another chapel of Santa Catarina; as set out in condicilo 1528 the testament of Peter Knight George, by then widowed his wife Ana Gonçalves, explains Dias Mendonça that this was Pedro Jorge Jorge Velho child and Africa Anes woman, who came from Santa Maria with her parents , married on the island of San Miguel with Ana Gonçalves, the daughter of Gonçalves Afonso Anes and Catherine who had offspring.
