How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

I have hidden a series of caches to acknowledge very memorable milestones of geocachers. I have placed caches to applaud finding 1000 caches, 2000 caches, 3000 caches and on up to 20K cache finds. I stopped at 20K until I can reach the 21K milestone myself. I don’t understand placing challenges that I, the owner, cannot demonstrate having accomplished myself.

You are welcome to visit the cache site and sign the log when you are in the area but please do not log an online note until you have met the challenge and the appropriate number appears after your geocaching.com name in the logs. Put this cache on your watchlist until you have accomplished the challenge. Date your online find on the day or after you meet the challenge. You are welcome to note the day of your visit in your log but do not post on that day to allow the legitimate earlier finders to claim the “whoo-hoos”.

Have fun and enjoy your accolades.

I must say that I enjoyed this “hobby” a lot more before someone told me someone was counting how many caches I had found. I played for six months and had about 400 finds before anyone pointed out the number after my name. I remember having a fifteen find day and being so excited about finding that many in a day. Those were the days.

Today I get my caching fix in many ways. I can go out and find thirty to forty caches or I can grab a couple hundred dgp points with friends. I can go out and hide a half dozen caches for the rest of you to enjoy or I can load you into my vehicle and I can do a “driving miss daisy” where I drive to caches in the local area and let you get out and find the cache while the motor is running and on we are to the next.
