Geocache Description:

This page best viewed using MSIE.

Hurd Park is a nice-size park in Dover. It is the site of the first iron forge in Dover, Jackson Forge on Jackson Brook.

Dover was, after all, founded as a premiere iron producer during Colonial times. Note the sign for Picatinny Arsenal across the way. Picatinny has been producing armaments since the Revolutionary War. The Morris Canal ran nearby. It was built to bring coal to the local forges, and forged iron to market.

The park is home to the Doughboy Monument, celebrating those who lost their lives defending the country during the First War, and beautiful cherry trees. (At least one of the cherry trees has been killed by beavers!) The gazebo is a popular spot for wedding pictures, so muggle activity can require a lot of stealth.

The listed coordinates are for a suitable parking spot on Princeton Avenue, not for the actual cache. Cross at the green, and not in between. Don’t even think of parking on Route 46/West Blackwell Street!

I have tried to help my brother, FunnyNose, with some of the evil Mystery Caches to be found in the Seattle area. He said that I should put out an evil Mystery Cache here, since we have few of them. So, blame FunnyNose for this one. It was his idea! The name is stolen from one of his favorite (?) caches, but has nothing to do with that cache. I liked the name. Thanks, Nolenator.

The solution to the mystery will bring you to a micro cache with the coordinates to the second and final stage. The area at the second stage might be a bit muddy. Since several hurricanes have wreaked havoc on the final, the final has been replaced by a large bison tube tied to the tree.

Oh. The clues?
