Geocache Description:

Located at Gladys' Leap near Cranham, Glos.
This cache has now been incorporated into the Cranham series of caches as the eighth cache.
The Cranham series involves an energetic 5 mile walk around 8 caches in order to obtain coordinates for the bonus cache back in Cranham.

From Happy Day descend to the field gate. Go up the track to the cottage then left to a field path opposite Batch Farm (now apparently called Baker's Piece Farm). Follow this path diagonally across two fields to the famous leap. The cache has been moved back to the field boundary before the Leap. Access it from the side furthest from the bridge to avoid barbed wire.
Gladys Hillier was postwoman in Cranham from 1942 until 1977. Part of her round entailed crossing a stream by a rickety plank. This became known as "Gladys' Leap". The Cotswolds Voluntary Warden Service has now installed a proper bridge with a notice dedicating it to Gladys who lived in the village all her life until her death a couple of years ago (2009). Her great niece has now taken up geocaching!
The cache is in trees so the signal is not good but there are open areas close to get a fix.
Cache is a 1 litre clip lock box
Thanks l for Wikipedia web page about Gladys which can be accessed via "related web pages" link at top of page..
