Meyers Lake Cache aka "Tanks for the Cache" Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Barthonis: Well I stopped by this morning to place new cache container back out and the area of the cache has been clear-cut by the city. [:(] Didn't want to just leave the ammo can sitting on the bare ground next to a stump, so this one will be archived.

Thanks to all those that enjoyed coming to the cache, and my apologies to those that missed getting this one. Will try to find another area of the lake to put a new cache in.

Geocache Description:

This is a puzzle multi-cache in Meyers Lake Park in Evansdale Iowa. The first cache is a virtual cache used to gather information. You can park about 100 ft from the above coords. There is a shelter, restrooms, a paved walking trail, a boat ramp and walk-out fenced dock area. Also, please do NOT feed the ducks/geese here. Boats and bushwacking are not required to complete this cache. Cache is kid friendly! Permission given by Mayor John Mardis.

The above coordinates are for the most prominent man-made feature within Meyers Lake, and the source of hours of playtime enjoyment for my childhood friends and me. I grew up about 3 blocks from this park, long before all the houses were built that surround it now. Ahhhh, the memories.....but back to the cache.

Go to the "vehicle" located in the park at the above coords. On the front of this "vehicle" is a plate with various information about it and where it was made. use the information on this plate to answer the following questions and to find the coords for the second physical cache:

1) Line one of the plaque lists the 5 digit serial number of the vehicle. We will call this number “AA.AAA”.

2) How many millimeters (MM) is the gun on this vehicle? We will call this number “BB”.

3) The last line of the plaque lists the year this vehicle was made. We will call the last 2 numbers of the year it was made “CC”.

To get the longitude and latitude of the final cache location, plug in the above numbers into the following equations:

Longitude: N 42.(95.781-AA.AAA)
Latitude: W 092.(1292/BB).((16x(BB/4)-12)-CC)

PLEASE!!!! Cover the cache back up carefully and fully. Youngsters are known to play around the final cache location, and although it is well hidden now, if you are careless in replacing the cache it may come up missing.

The lakefront property on the north-east side of the lake is PRIVATE PROPERTY!!! If you trespass on this private property, you will have to answer to the police. The residents are not afraid to call the authorities, so don’t give geocachers a bad name, respect their private property, please.

7/21/04 I had to move the cache about 5 feet to the east of it's original spot because the recent high waters ruined the original hiding spot. The coords will still get you to the general area, so the formula remains the same.

3/22/05 Any "found it" logs without an actual logbook signature will be deleted, so please make sure to sign the logbook. I do monitor my caches.
