Geocache Description:

Better known as the Southern Flying Squirrel, this little ball of fur is a "protected species" in Indiana. It is a resident of the area. I had not seen nor heard one in forty years until last spring. I was night fishing for walleye at the river and was given the rare treat to watch a pair for 30-45 minutes. It's quite a sight to see them scurry up the tree and sail to the next. Their vocal sounds are very unique. A nocturnal animal, most people have never seen them, and likely won't. Placing this cache reminded me of them and their general loss of habitat in northern Indiana.

On to the cache, a single stage, simply find it. The terrain rating is for the last 100 feet. The immediate area is clear of nettles and poison ivy. There are a few briers. Recommend sturdy shoes as there are lots of tree limbs to step over & around.

The container is a 5x4x2 black surplus plastic decontamination kit. (finally found out what they are called), stocked with trade items, log/pencil/sharpener.

To help a bit, the cache is not on the ground. It's not camoed, but may only be seen from the right location and angle.

The cache will be disabled during ALL hunting seasons. Currently, Apr27-May15, and again, Aug15-Jan1.

Property maps and other information is available 24/7 at the property headquarters just east of Mongo. Enter the building from the south end.
