This is a little out of the way place the I discovered while researching another potential cache. I was surprised to find that a place this nice didn't have a cache already.
Since the regular cache kept going missing we've replaced with a micro cache in the same place. Hopefully this will last.
This cache is placed in honour of another cacher, Green Achers, who we have never met, but who helped us change our lives forever. I (Tri_Again) when I was thinking of how to propose to keep_on_shinin' I came up with the idea that I wanted to do it through a cache, but how? I decided that I was going to attempt to recruit the assistance of another cacher to help me out, here's where Green Achers comes into play.
I decided that I was going to propose to keep_on_shinin' during our trip to Lake Tahoe, but in order to make this good I had to have the cache there and in place before we arrived. I put out a call to all Lake Tahoe and surrounding area cachers for help and Green Achers volunteered. I arranged to send to him a hand written letter to be placed in a "fake" cache. The letter would be the proposal.
Green Achers and his wife went above and beyond the call. They supplied the cache container (the one you'll be looking for) and filled it with trinkets. (some of which are in this cache still). Green Achers sent me the co-ordinates for the cache they hid and I proceeded to write up a fake cache description that I merged into a real file.
The proposal went better than I could have hoped. Green Achers and his wife found a beautiful spot, and the information they sent was bang on. Keep_on_shinin' was totally surprised, and as most of you know by now, she said yes.
Thank you Green Achers. We've never met, but keep_on_shinin' and I will never forget what you and your wife did for two strangers from Canada. Thank you.
About the cache. The terrain is set at this level only because of the last 15 meters. Footing will be particularly slippery in the winter. No need to get too close to the waters edge.
