Geocache Description:

This Cache is a low difficulty hike through the Morningside Park section of Highland Creek. Access to the park can be found on Morningside road, south of Ellesmere. This cache is located in Scarborough, Ontario.

There are several options for the cacher in regards to finding parking. During the off season it is rare for any of the roads to be shoveled and cache may be difficult to obtain. Getting to the cache may be a little dangerous as many logs and twigs will be hidden under the snow, ready to trip up the unseeing cacher!

If caching in winter please use parking lot number one located at the co-ordinates listed below.

Co-ords

N 43 46.748 W 079 11.589 It is roughly 500m “As the crow flies” from this parking area.

During the months that full access can be gained to all parking lots, we recommend parking at the co-ordinates listed below.

N 43 46.689 W 079 12.068

Walk west across the picnic area until you locate the gravel path. Follow this path south along the creek until you meet up with the paved path. At this point head east and you will be heading towards the cache. This trail offers many nice views and places to enjoy some of the nature around you. We measured this out at roughly 700m. It is a much nicer walk than any of the other parking areas offer. It may be a longer hike but we think you will appreciate it more than the other routes you may find from the other parking areas.

*** CACHE IS LOCATED UNDER HEAVY TREE COVER WHICH IS A KNOWN AFFECTOR OF GPS ACCURACY. WHEN TAKING OUR WAYPOINTS FOR THIS CACHE WE HAD AN EPE OF 2M, BUT EPE’S OF 10M ARE NOT UNCOMMON UNDER THESE TREES! YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NEED TO SPEND SOME TIME LOOKING AROUND FOR THE RIGHT SPOT. BECAUSE OF THIS, WE HAVE TRIED TO MAKE OUR HINTS VERY DESCRIPTIVE. THEY SHOULD HOPEFULLY POINT YOU DIRECTLY TO THE CACHE ***
