"Oh- it's
out there.."
YEP! It's out there! Langlie and I teamed up
to place a cache out on Bear Island- a tip of the cap to TopGear,
who named the island after his pup, it's a good name- so
we kept it!
No puzzles or ciphers or anything like that. Just
a cache on an island.
A note about the terrain. Experienced cachers,
outdoorsmen, an most Minnesotans know that there is no
such thing as 'safe ice' and that applies double here.
Probably this little pond freezes completely but I wouldn't bank on
it and neither should you- bring a buddy, some ice pics, and let
someone know that you'll be on the ice. Summer months are
sure to bring miscellaneous ivys and the like- so be careful!
Could one swim out to Bear Island? Probably- but that doesn't
mean it should be done. The exact depths vary
depending on rainfall and other things, of course, so there is no
way of knowing for sure how deep this pond is. Whether ice or
water- please treat this 5 terrain like a 5 terrain! Parking
