The Piltdown Man Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

flyingmoose: This cache was placed for an event last year. I see no reason for it to continue to exist so I am letting this one and others placed at the event go. There are enough caches in this park now that this one is no longer needed. Thanks to all who sought this cache out.

Geocache Description:

Back in 1952 Sterling Virginia had it's own Piltdown man, there was no name for it really as the hoax did not last long enough. A young scientist named Alden Clegg looking to make a quick carrer out of archeology placed the remains of a , human skull from about 890 years ago, 1 moose legbone and a baboon jawbone. All of these items were aged to perfection but what got Alden caught so quickly was when he had a dinner party soon afterwards to celebrate his girlfriend had found the mail in form for skeltal remains from Bones Inc. Boston, Mass.. This of course did not go over well with the townfolk of reston and to say the least he changed his name and moved to Timbuktu and became a fisherman along the Niger river.

This cache was placed for the 2006 NoVAGO Fall Gathering.
